The Bungalow Partnership
Park End Primary school work with a wonderful therapy service, called The Bungalow Partnership, ton support children who may need some specific, targeted emotional support.
Therapists are not employed directly by the school. They are external staff who drop in to school for weekly sessions with children. Sessions are purchased by school or social care.
Please see The Bungalow Partnerships website here to find out more about the service: The Bungalow Partnership
Park End Primary works with two therapists, Sharon and Steffi. They provide ‘play therapy’ for children; play therapy encourages a child to explore life events that may have an effect on current circumstances, in a manner and pace of the child’s choosing, primarily through play but also through language.
The Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is the main person in school who coordinates the work of the therapists. If you’re a professional or a parent who is concerned about a child, and you think working with an EP might be helpful, you should speak to the school’s SENCo. The SENCo will talk about your concerns with you, and then discuss things with the EP, if they think it’s appropriate. You can also speak to the school’s deputy designated mental health lead, Miss Race.
Sharon works in school every Monday morning. Steffi works in school every Thursday.
